NAFTA
The Administration negotiated a strong side agreement to protect the
environment and helped pass NAFTA with the support of a large portion
of national environmental advocacy groups. The treaty sets a new
environmental standard for trade agreements. Innovative "green"
provisions will help protect the environment and improve the quality
of life on both sides of the border with Mexico. At the same time,
NAFTA will double the number of American jobs supported by
environmental technology exports to Mexico.
